The Catholic community in Wokingham was established as a parish in 1902, and the present church dates from 1970. It is situated in the centre of the town. Like all Catholic parishes throughout the world, its life is centred around the Sunday celebration of the Mass.
Here, people thank God for all that God does for us and they commit themselves to living a Christian life, particularly proclaiming the gospel to the whole world. The parish includes people from many other countries: India, Argentina, Spain, France, Germany, Slovakia, Russia, The United States of America, Vietnam, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, the Philippines, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Italy, Poland as well as Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Join in the fun and silliness with our traditional pantomime
Mother Goose may have a heart of gold but she doesn't have two pounds to her name. Her rent is due, the fuel bills are rising and there are more and more mouths to feed.
Will Mephisto, the evil magician, corrupt our beloved Mother Goose? In times of financial hardship we could all do with a goose that lays golden eggs; but at what cost?
Mother Goose, is the 19th annual panto brought to you by the amateur Parish Panto Group from Corpus Christi, Wokingham. Our aim is to spread laughter and good cheer with the songs and silliness of a pantomime and at the same time raise money for a worthwhile cause.
This year we are supporting Daisy’s Dream - a small charity, based in Berkshire, who support children and young people who are facing, or have experienced, the death of someone close. Their valuable service offers the time and support needed by families to learn to cope with the changing dynamics
St. Teresa's Catholic Academy
At St. Teresa’s our vision, Safe, Happy and Successful Together with God, underpins all that we do. The children’s relationship with God begins as soon as they join us and it visibly develops as they progress through the school.
We are very lucky to have our parish church, Corpus Christi, situated within our school grounds which enables us to develop close links with all members of our parish. Canon Simon, our parish priest, is a regular visitor to our classes and the children enjoy celebrating and participating in school Masses in church.
There is a real sense of community within our school. Everyone is valued for their contributions to our schools success and our dedicated staff work wholeheartedly as a team, for the benefit of all the children in our care. Our pupils are eager to learn and our exciting, creative curriculum motivates them as learners and leads them towards fulfilling their full academic potential.
We encourage our children to have a Growth Mindset, demonstrating resilience and perseverance in order to succeed. Our aim is for every child to leave St Teresa’s as a confident and independent learner, equipped with all the life skills necessary to achieve success in every aspect of life. To learn more about us, please visit our school – I’m sure you will be impressed by what you see.

Our Baby and Toddler group is back up and running with a new leadership team!
The Parish Toddler Group offers a friendly welcome to parents and carers with their babies and toddlers, of 4 years old and under, at their Wednesday morning sessions held during the school term. Our sessions which run from 9.30am to 11.00 am.
The group, which has been running since 1989, provides a safe place for children to mix and adults to meet in the pleasant surroundings of the Keenan Rooms.
We are equipped with tables and chairs and a wide range of toys to suit this age range - ride-on, push-along, puzzles and several smaller items grouped in different areas for imaginative play. These are all stored on site.
A snack of different fruits is served to the children midway followed by tea or coffee and biscuits to the adults.
After the toys are cleared away, the session ends with a communal singing activity and sometimes a story.
We ask for a contribution of £1.00 (with 50p for an extra child) which covers our running costs and any special celebrations such as the Christmas and Easter parties.
If you have some free time on a Wednesday morning and would like to help at the Baby and Toddler Group please contact little_flowers@outlook.com. Thank you
The Corpus Christi Africa Fund (CCAF) has been in existence since just after the Tsunami in the Far East in 2004. At that time the Parish decided that, rather than wait for a disaster to occur, it would make more sense to plan to support a project which would provide support on a on going basis. After careful consideration it was decided to support two projects in East Africa – Our Lady of Nazareth Primary School (OLN) located in the second largest slum area of Nairobi, Kenya and Suubi Childrens Home in Entebbe, Uganda.
The objectives set were to benefit as many as possible; to know that any money raised would be used as intended; to have personal knowledge and contact with each beneficiary and to ensure that each beneficiary would not become solely reliant on our assistance.
We have been able to raise over £500,000 since CCAF was started. Whilst we continue to support OLN in Nairobi, 2022 saw the end of our help for Suubi as the Ugandan Government changed the country’s laws on adoption and the orphanage ceased to exist.
Appeals are normally made during Lent each year.

We cannot ignore that WE have had a profound effect on the state of God’s Creation. This was expressed clearly and boldly in Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato si’- On Care for our common home published in 2015 and in his more recent exhortation Laudato Deum.
The Pope discusses the damage being inflicted on the Earth and calls on us all to make urgent changes to our lifestyles as a matter of social justice, including how we consume energy, water and food.
We are urged to work together to create a better world for future generations and to make those necessary changes to care for, respect and value our Common Home. We need “to hear both the cry of the earthand the cry of the poor.”
Left to ourselves, we can become unaware of our self-interested way of looking at the world and neglect our role as its stewards. As technology advances, we get used to doing things in a certain way without seeing any harm caused.
Do we recognise this indifference? Can we break free of our over-consumption?
We might find it hard to believe that our small actions can make a difference.
With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can act as part of wider communities in our church, our neighbourhood and our world.
Is the parish a good place to bring about these changes?
We are a community linked by our faith. We praise God together for the beauty of His Creation. We can encourage each other to change and make a difference - and enjoy doing so.
Our bishops commend the LiveSimply award as a good way to respond to Pope Francis’ invitation. They encourage all parishes to consider signing-up and Corpus Christi did this in Spring 2023.
Please join in with our parish actions to help us all to
- live more simply
- live more sustainably with creation and
- live in solidarity with people who are in need
